Daily Trainer & Sire Insights provides a structured view of every UK and Irish race, allowing you to compare all runners using consistent, data-driven trainer and sire metrics.
Each race starts with a fully sortable table of statistics, built from Smartform data, then extends that view with visual charts showing how today’s runner fits into historical performance patterns.

Start with the table
For every race, you can compare runners using sortable trainer and sire statistics, including mean and median percentage of rivals beaten (PRB), recent form, course, distance and race-type performance.
This helps you quickly identify runners connected to stronger trainer or sire profiles, before looking more closely at the pattern behind the numbers.
Then add context with charts
The charts sit below each table and can be toggled on or off.
- Trainer charts: patterns by age and rest profile
- Sire charts: performance by going, age and distance
These charts show whether a profile is strong, how consistent it has been, and where today’s runner sits within that historical range.

Trainer patterns
Trainer insights show how trainers have performed with runners in comparable situations, including age profile, days since last run, race type and other conditions.
Sire patterns
Sire insights show how a sire’s progeny have performed across going, distance and age groups. This can be especially useful with lightly raced horses, or when today’s conditions are new to the runner itself.
Why going matters
Going is difficult to interpret from an individual horse’s record alone. A horse may be lightly raced, may not have encountered certain conditions, or may have too little evidence to form a reliable view.
Sire patterns provide a broader lens. Because physical traits such as action and conformation are inherited, performance across different ground conditions often shows structure at the sire level.
Built on Smartform
Daily Trainer & Sire Insights is built from Smartform data, with history available from 2008. Smartform users can go deeper with full database access, model building and backtesting.
This feature takes part of that work and presents it in a format that can be used immediately, race by race.
How to use it
- Select a race from the daily list.
- Choose Trainer or Sire view.
- Sort the table to identify stronger profiles.
- Toggle charts to assess consistency and context.
- Use the insight alongside your own race reading and price judgement.
