A detailed explanation of each column in the trainer stats table, and how to read the box plots below the table.
Horse: The name of the horse running in this race.
Trainer: The trainer responsible for this horse.
Mean PRB: Mean % rivals beaten, computed by the Betwise model for this specific race. Based on the trainer's runners in similar conditions (race type, horse age, days since last run). The highlighted orange box in the plot corresponds to this horse's current profile.
Med PRB: Median % rivals beaten. More robust than the mean where the distribution is skewed by outliers.
21D PRB: Mean % rivals beaten by the trainer's runners at this race code (e.g. Hurdle, Chase, Flat) in the past 21 days. Low run counts (see 21D Runs) should be treated with caution.
21D Runs: Number of runs the 21D PRB figure is based on.
42D PRB: Mean % rivals beaten at this race code over the past 42 days. Useful for trainers who run horses less frequently, where the 21-day sample may be too small.
42D Runs: Number of runs the 42D PRB figure is based on.
C&D PRB: Mean % rivals beaten at this specific course and distance over the past 5 years. The most precise measure — but also the smallest sample for many trainer/venue combinations.
C&D Runs: Number of runs the C&D PRB figure is based on.
Dist PRB: Mean % rivals beaten at this distance at any course over the past 5 years. Broader than C&D — useful where the trainer has few C&D runs.
Dist Runs: Number of runs the Dist PRB figure is based on.
Crs PRB: Mean % rivals beaten at this course over any distance in the past 5 years. Captures course affinity independent of trip.
Crs Runs: Number of runs the Crs PRB figure is based on.
5Y SR%: The trainer's win strike rate at this race type (Flat, Hurdle, Chase etc.) over the past 5 years.
H/C PRB: Mean % rivals beaten in handicaps versus conditions races over the past 5 years. Helps identify trainers who are particularly effective in one race category versus the other.
Forecast: The forecast decimal odds for this runner, shown for market context. A high PRB figure at long odds may indicate the market is underestimating the trainer's prospects.
Reading the box plots: Each plot shows the full distribution of a trainer's % rivals beaten results, split by horse age group (column panels) and days since last run (x-axis bins). The highlighted orange box is the current horse's profile. A median line sitting consistently above 50 across most conditions suggests a trainer whose runners routinely outperform expectations. Wide boxes indicate high variability; narrow boxes with many runs are more reliable.
